Adjustment from one to two

I am so thankful my mom was able to come out for a few weeks when Lady Bug was born. It was so great having her here. I have been missing her like crazy ever since we moved from Oregon. She was so helpful as I tried to learn how to juggle two kids. Plus we had an amazing time together!!

Red Panda adjusted so much better then I thought he would! He amazes me everyday at what a great kid he is. The first few weeks after Lady Bug was born, however, I thought I was going to loose it with him. He started acting up (which I can not blame him and new sibling is a lot to take) with temper tantrums every five minutes. And not the nice little crying kicking legs and stuff. No these were full on screaming at the top of his lungs, kicking his legs and arms around. They were quite entertaining. But after a few weeks they went away and he went back to his growling for frustration. Yes that is right he growls anytime he is frustrated. Which I love!! First it is cute and quite plus he is able to get out the frustration and after a few minutes is back to his happy self.

Red Panda adores Lady Bug! I think they will be the bestest friends. When she cries he is there to help or he starts crying himself. And he loves holding her. My mom and I went to costco and we had to stop for 20 minutes or so cuz Red Panda had to hold Lady Bug right then. But it led to my favorite picture ever (pictured above)!

Lady Bug is just amazing me. She had been a little colic at times but it does not last too long. When she is sad she is sad. But I have never seen a baby so young smile as much as she has. And never when she has gas. It is in response to things like her head being ticked, etc. She puts up with her brothers loud voice too. She is definitely a fragile little girl though I have noticed. And she has a love/hate relationship with her Binky. One second she will want it so bad she won't stop crying with our it and the next she gets mad at you for offering it to her. I think she is going to have quite the personality.

Our Precious Lady Bug

I know this is pathetically late. It is funny I was always told that the adjustment for two kids is more difficult then the adjustment for the first kid. Wow is this true. It is amazing how lucky I feel to be the mom of two amazing kids. I could go on and on about the exciting stuff we are doing and learning but first let me tell you about the amazing day we met our precious Lady Bug.

I will start with a fill in on the pregnancy. Having had my first child fairly early (36 1/2 weeks) I was so anxious that Lady Bug would come early too. And I have fairly fast labors. Thoughts of me rushing to the hospital and not making it in time were stressing me out. Plus, I started having braxton hicks contractions at 22 weeks and 'real' contractions at 34 weeks. A month of contractions every couple minutes, horrible heartburn, and nausea... lets just say I was more then ready to have the baby. However, when I went for my week 38 appointment and I was still only dilated to a 2 I was about to scream. My wonderful doctor, Dr. Pooja Shah, took pity on me and got me scheduled to be induced the first chance she could.


Our appointment was at nine. I will tell you this is such a bazaar feeling... like checking in to a hotel and then later walking away with a baby. Since I was having pretty regular contractions they never gave me pitocin... and boy did I not need it. At about 11 they broke my water and my body went into action. Zoie was born at 1:14 (6lbs 13oz, 18in) a whole 2 hours of 'labor.' I think this is my reward after nine months of sickness. And we were so blessed to have had the insurance battle taken care of. We fought for coverage for almost five months and it was finally settled just weeks before she was born.

Words can not express the feeling one gets when holding his/her baby for the first time. And this little girl is a doll!!! It is also so amazing to see how Heavenly Father blesses us this beautiful spirit beings each with their own personality. We are so excited to be given the opportunity to raise this beautiful girl. And get to know her as the years go by.
